Upon receipt of your application package, I will schedule an
interview with you to discuss:

Determination of sponsorship to the EMT Basic
course: We sponsor well-qualified students, paying for the course
and text books, at that time you will be hired as a probationary
employee.
To become an EMT, You are required to attend
the EMT-basic Course at one of the local Technical Colleges. The
EMT-B course is approximately 146 hours of class with WI State, and
National Registry testing upon completion. Once you have completed
40 hours of class, you are eligible for a training permit, which
your instructor will assist you in the application process. At that
point, you may begin to ride the ambulance for patient contacts, a
course requirement. You will also begin the Field Training Program
(FTP).
After passing the class successfully, you
will have to pass National Registry testing. After you pass the
National Registry, we will start the state EMT license application
process.
As the Training Reimbursement Agreement
states, after receiving your state license, you are committed to one
full year of service with the Village of Baldwin EMS
Department.

If you currently have National Registry I
will meet with you to discuss positions we may have in Baldwin, we
maintain a roster of approximately 50 EMT’s. In order to apply
for a WI State license you will need to provide; a copy of your
current Health Care Provider CPR card, a copy of current National
Registry certification, a certificate of completion from a Wisconsin
approved Weapons of Mass Destruction
course.
All new EMT candidates will have to complete
the Field Training Program (FTP) within six months. Licensed EMT’s
applying or licensed EMT’s that have been on leave for more than six
months will need to complete the FTP, and will be on probation for
180 days from your starting date or issuance of a training permit
for students.
In Baldwin, generally EMT’s fill 48-60 hours
(or eight to ten, six hour shifts per month). The requirements are:
all EMT’s are required to submit a minimum of 72 hours of available
call time per month. Twenty-four of those hours must cover a
weekend. EMT’s must cover at least one holiday per year (24 hours).
There is also a required monthly training session, generally the
third Wednesday night each month.
