 Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in Baldwin Area EMS Department. Before completing the application, please read the job description so that you are sure of the commitment you are making. Saving lives and helping those in need is truly rewarding. Upon receipt of your application package, I will schedule an interview with you to discuss:

(Not Already Licensed)

Determination of sponsorship to the EMT Basic course: We sponsor well-qualified students, paying for the course and text books, at that time you will be hired as a probationary employee.

To become an EMT, You are required to attend the EMT-basic Course at one of the local Technical Colleges. The EMT-B course is approximately 146 hours of class with WI State, and National Registry testing upon completion. Once you have completed 40 hours of class, you are eligible for a training permit, which your instructor will assist you in the application process. At that point, you may begin to ride the ambulance for patient contacts, a course requirement. You will also begin the Field Training Program (FTP).

After passing the class successfully, you will have to pass National Registry testing. After you pass the National Registry, we will start the state EMT license application process.

As the Training Reimbursement Agreement states, after receiving your state license, you are committed to one full year of service with the Village of Baldwin EMS Department.

(Have National Registry)

If you currently have National Registry I will meet with you to discuss positions we may have in Baldwin, we maintain a roster of approximately 50 EMT’s. In order to apply for a WI State license you will need to provide; a copy of your current Health Care Provider CPR card, a copy of current National Registry certification, a certificate of completion from a Wisconsin approved Weapons of Mass Destruction course.

All new EMT candidates will have to complete the Field Training Program (FTP) within six months. Licensed EMT’s applying or licensed EMT’s that have been on leave for more than six months will need to complete the FTP, and will be on probation for 180 days from your starting date or issuance of a training permit for students.

In Baldwin, generally EMT’s fill 48-60 hours (or eight to ten, six hour shifts per month). The requirements are: all EMT’s are required to submit a minimum of 72 hours of available call time per month. Twenty-four of those hours must cover a weekend. EMT’s must cover at least one holiday per year (24 hours). There is also a required monthly training session, generally the third Wednesday night each month.

Please complete the application and attached forms and call for an appointment. I will explain and help complete any forms you do not understand. Thank you for your interest in helping the community.
