The 9-1-1 Center is the vital link between the
request for fire, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and
the responses to those requests. Information is received in the
Center via telephone lines, from field sources via radio
communications, and via the nationwide law enforcement teletype
network. This information is processed expediently and then the
9-1-1 Center provides additional support to the incident or
emergency upon request by the first responders, and coordinates
responses of additional agencies when necessary.
9-1-1 is an emergency telephone number that
provides IMMEDIATE access to LAW ENFORCEMENT, FIRE, and EMERGENCY
MEDICAL SERVICES.
