Ambulance 5601
is a 1991 Ford E-350 Type III SuperMedic built by Road Rescue in St.
Paul, MN. While it is equipped similar to our other two ambulances,
it is also set up to act as a mass causality command center. The
history of this truck is long, but perhaps our favorite truck
because when 5602 was purchased with the new graphics and paint job,
the crew members dismantled 5601, had it painted to match the new
truck, and re assembled 5601 completely in-house.. It was a six-week
project which brought us together. Members of our
department designed graphics and paint scheme in-house.
Ambulance 5602
is a 1999 Ford E-350 Type III SuperMedic custom built for us by
Road Rescue in St. Paul, MN.
5603
was added in the spring of 2001, as our population and run
volume continue to grow at a steady rate.
To
support our ambulance fleet, our department has added several other
types of response vehicles since 2002. We have four EMS response
bicycles, which work together in teams of two for immediate
responses to emergencies during events such as our local Windmills
days, Hammond Heartland days, or the county fair. The bike units are
fully equipped to handle any emergency until a transport ambulance
arrives on scene.
In
2004 we added a John Deere Gator cart "5610" to the rapid response
teams. This unit is fully equipped to handle and transport patients
to an area where the transport ambulance can receive a patient.
Examples of how this unit is used include hunters, farmers in
fields, parachuters, search and rescue, football games, down
firefighters at grass fires, and other crowded events. See
special operations units
page.
