Basic First Aid Course for Community and Workplace.

Properly applied first aid can save lives, reduce recovery time and quite possibly mean the difference between a temporary disability or lifelong disability. Program participants learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illness. Crucial information about how to deal with emergencies including shock, burns, strains, strokes and seizures is shared in the course.

This nationally accepted program was reviewed by and satisfies the requirements of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).

Course: Initial instruction is a 4-hour course. Students receive a handbook and instruction. Upon successful completion of a 25 question written test and a skills based scenario without assistance, the student receives a certificate of completion and nationally recognized student completion card with certification of up to 3 years.  Course Fee is  $20.00 per student (min. class of 6 students and max. student/Instructor ratio is 20:1)

Renewal courses (for previously certified students) are 2 hours long. Course Fee$18.00 per student with minimum of six students. (20:1 ratio)

CPR for the Community and Workplace- New 2005 Guidelines

Students learn how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, how to provide basic life saving support and what to do in the case of airway obstruction or choking.

The CPR Program is based on the most current scientific research and guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and is consistent with other national CPR programs.

Course: Initial instruction is 4- hour course.  Students receive a handbook and instruction.  Upon successful completion of a 25 question written test and hands on scenarios without assistance, the student receives a certificate of completion and nationally recognized student completion card. The course fee is $20.00 per student with a minimum of six students. (max. student to Instructor ratio is 10:1)

The CPR Renewal course is 4 hours long, which includes testing. Course fee is $18.00 per student, minimum of six students. (max. student to instructor ratio is 10:1)

Choose to host the CPR and First Aid Course together, and we'll throw in the AED course!

A.E.D. Course

Having personnel on-site that are expertly trained in the use of Automated External Defibrillation (AED) provides a victim with rapid defibrillation access before EMS arrival and greatly increases the chance of survival. Training includes recognition of unresponsive victims, review of equipment, operation and maintenance of equipment, discussion of treatment, and valuable hands-on practice designed to increase skills. Course includes AED start  up guide for the business or organization.

Course: Initial instruction is a 3 to 4-hour course. Students receive a handbook and instruction. Upon successful completion of a written test and scenarios without assistance, the student receives a certificate of completion and nationally recognized student completion card for certification of 2 years. Course fee is $18.00 per student. (max student to Instructor ratio is 8:1)

 

CPR PRO for the Professional Rescuer - New 2005 Guidelines

Our CPR PRO course has been approved for training for Emergency Medical Services personnel in Wisconsin and is accredited by the Continuing Education Board of Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS).  The CPR PRO course fulfills renewal requirements of the State of Wisconsin and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).

Course: Initial instruction is an 8-hour course. Students receive a handbook and instruction.  Upon successful completion (with 80% or greater accuracy) of a 25 question written test and scenarios without assistance, the student receives a certificate of completion and nationally recognized student completion card. Course fee is $45.00 per student, minimum of six students (max. student to Instructor ratio is 10:1). There is a $15.00 fee per course to register students with CECBEMS. Large groups can be discounted slightly, call for more information.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course -- PALS

Course Description
The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course is to provide the learner with:

1.       Information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest

2.       Information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children

3.       The cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest.

Initial Course Length: 16 hours
Refresher Course Length: 8 hours

Intended Audience
Pediatricians, house staff, emergency physicians, family physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who are responsible for the well-being of infants and children. Course fee is $60.00 per student, minimum of six students (max. student to Instructor ratio is 10:1).

Card Issued: 2 Year Course completion

 

ACLS Provider Course

Course Description
The ACLS Provider Course provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest. Providers are expected to learn to manage 10 core ACLS cases: a respiratory emergency, four  types of cardiac arrest (simple VF/VT, complex VF/VT, PEA and asystole), four types of prearrest emergencies (bradychardia, stable tachycardia, unstable tachycardia and acute coronary syndromes) and stroke.

Initial Course Length: 16 hours
Refresher Course Length: 8 hours

Intended Audience
Personnel staffing emergency, intensive care or critical care departments; emergency medical providers such as physicians, nurses, emergency technicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency.Course fee is $130.00 per student, minimum of six students (max. student to Instructor ratio is 10:1).

Card Issued: 2 year course completion           

 

 

Pet First Aid                                                                   

aspca.gif   The ASHI Pet First Aid training program has been reviewed by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA®) panel of nationally-renowned veterinarians, veterinary toxicologists, animal behavior and animal science specialists and received the ASPCA® Seal of Approval. Our program is for caring for dogs and cats as well as guidance about when pets should be taken to the veterinarian for professional care. Each student will receive a certificate. Initial Instruction is 2-hours, the course fee is $18.00 per student. minimum of six students per class. (max student to Instructor ratio is 20:1)

 

Child And Babysitting Safety Course (CABS)

The CABS course is a community education program that covers common child safety and basic care techniques for infants and children. Fundamental information for childcare workers or babysitters including child safety, play, feeding and emergencies.

Course: Initial instruction is a 4-hour course. Students receive a handbook and instruction. Upon successful completion of a written test and scenarios without assistance, the student receives a certificate of completion and nationally recognized student completion card. Course fee is $20.00 per student, minimum of six students per class.

 

The Baldwin EMS Department offers courses through the Public Education classes, or at your office/business/facility for a small fee to cover instructor, materials, and equipment.
