Services

Our commitment to excellence in Emergency Medical Services is an ongoing process of education and training. Our interventions range from medical and trauma calls to public education.

In the early days of EMS ambulance addentants (ambulance drivers) sole responsibilities were to stop bleeding and drive an improvised Cadillac ambulance/hearse (equipped with little or no life saving devices) to the hospital.

Modern Emergency Medical Services have become an extension of hospital emergency rooms arriving at your doorstep with the most advanced technological life saving equipment and skillfully trained EMT professionals available.

By calling 911, instead of driving to the emergency room which can be dangerous for you and the patient, Baldwin Area EMS brings the emergency room to you. We are able to deliver the most up-to-date pre-hospital medical care. When a call is received we respond immediately with an advanced life support EMT in a quick response vehicle. The Medic vehicle is able to arrive on the scene quickly, generally ahead of the ambulance crew who must respond to the station to come in the ambulance, then assess the incident and begin advanced treatment as necessary. The EMT's follow-up to provide additional treatment and transport. This two phase response allows us to utilize our resources in an efficient and timely manner providing the quickest and highest level of care to the service area.

Baldwin Area EMS provides both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) the following services within our Public Service Area (PSA) utilizing four Type III ambulances from two stations and two quick response "medic" vehicles:

  • 9-1-1 response - treatment and transport
  • Inter-facility Transfers (Hospital to hospital)
  • Stand by at local events
  • Mutual aid and ALS intercept to other ambulance services
  • Community Education - CPR, First Aid and more
  • Emergency Management functions to the Villages
