Baldwin Area
EMS Bike Unit
In the summer of 2001, the Baldwin
Ambulance Service purchased two EMS mountain bikes with community
and business donations from the United Way of St. Croix County. In
2003, an additional two bikes were added through
donations.
The bikes are used during special
community events such as parades, fairs and sporting events. The
bikes are equipped with every thing needed to administer care for
any emergency from cardiac to trauma until a transport unit
arrives.
The bikes are very useful in crowded
areas such as fair grounds and community events where an ambulance
may takes extra minutes to maneuver to a scene. It also provides the
department high community profile during such events.
John Deere
Gator Medical ATV In 2004 we added a custom built John Deere
Gator ATV to the rapid response teams. This unit is fully
equipped to handle and transport patients to an area where the
transport ambulance can receive a patient. The vehicle includes compartments for BLS and
ALS medical equipment, backboard/stokes litter securing straps, a
back facing seat for a Medic, fire extinguisher, emergency response
lighting and siren. Examples of how this unit is
used include reaching hunters, farmers in a field, parachuters,
search and rescue, football games and sports event standbys, down
firefighters at grass fires, and other crowded events.
