Weekend Part Time Paramedic

Part Time Paramedic Job Description

Education: Must have National Registry Paramedic and be eligible to obtain a State of Wisconsin Paramedic or CCTP license.

Qualifications: General - Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship. 

Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application. Must have good character and reputation; superior self-command, alertness, and judgment; ability to establish and maintain good working and public relations. Conviction of a serious offense, repeated or numerous convictions for minor offenses, conviction of an offense involving moral turpitude, or discharge from the military service under other than honorable conditions may be disqualifying. Candidate must have a valid driver's license with no significant driving record. Prior experience in a pre-hospital EMS agency is desired. Candidate must also possess effective interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.

Applicants must be familiar with and able to administer the medications in our guidelines and state scope of practice in a safe manner.  Applications must be able to perform all skills in the guidelines and state scope of practice from airway management to truck operations.  Applicants will be able to perform any task needed to ensure adequate patient care, scene safety, resource management, and any other tasks assigned by the chief. 

Job Description: Part Time Paramedics shift will start at 1800 hrs on Friday, and run to 1800 hrs on Sunday.  We are looking at hiring two part time paramedics who will work the hours stated above every other weekend.  Applicants will be limited to no more than 30 hours of work each week, and will not be able to pick paid on call hours during the week.  Part time paramedics will maintain a seven minute response time to the station while on duty, and will be responsible for a complete truck checks on the 911 truck and transfer truck every weekend.  Part time paramedics will rotate from 911 truck and transfer truck.  Part time paramedics will be able to be in the interceptors if so desired.  Part time paramedics will not have any supervisory duties, will not have to deal with sick fills or other scheduling issues, and will not have to deal with disciplinary issues.  Part time paramedics will be expected to be leaders while on scene and work with crews to provide the highest level of care possible.  Part time paramedics on occasion will be tasked with arranging transfers, and have the ability to designate crews if needed.  Part time paramedics will be paid an hourly rate ranging from $14.00 an hour to $17.00 an hour based on experience and skill level.  Part time paramedics will be paid every two weeks.  As this is a part time position, the applicants will not be eligible for paid vacation or benefits.  Part time paramedics will be expected to work their weekends unless a replacement of equal skill level can be found.

Baldwin Area EMS is staffed by a fulltime EMS Chief and three Field Supervisors with about 50 paid on-call EMT's/Paramedics. Candidates must be able to work any combination of weekends and/or weekday shifts- evenings or day shifts. EMT's are paid on call and per run, these are part time positions, you choose work hours based on your availability each month.

Candidate must have a valid driver's license with no significant driving record. Prior experience in a pre-hospital EMS agency is desired. Preference will be given to those that live in the immediate service area. Candidate must also possess effective interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
